Tim Kovacs

Tim Kovacs with 16 years of experience in the culinary industry is the new Executive Chef of The Marquette Hotel. His culinary journey began in Michigan, after graduating from Culinary School he had the opportunity to intern in Barcelona, Spain and from there he headed to the twin cities where he was named a culinary whiz by the star tribune. From there Tim has had opportunities to hold dinners in private homes and plan many special events around town.
Early on he had the opportunity to attend the Culinary Institute of America Greystone in St. Helena, California where he took specialized courses in contemporary Asian cuisine and Native American Flavors.
Prior to The Marquette he worked at the St. Paul Hotel as a Banquet Chef and as an Executive Sous Chef at the Minneapolis Hilton.
When it comes to his work, Tim is very inspired by the quality and ingenuity of his ingredients, preferring to use local ingredients at a professional level. Thus raising the bar of what is expected. He loves the creative outlet and finds it very rewarding when people make a connection with the food he has prepared. Tim is a naturally driven person with an attraction to challenge and a zest for enjoying his life in and out of work.
